With Prani (The Breath), Papermoon Puppet Theatre takes audiences to Lasem, a tiny town on the northern part of Java Island that sits on an estuary. Inspired by our research on traditional Wayang Bengkong puppetry from Lasem, the performance combines art installation, puppetry, sound, light, and more to explore HOME and HOPE—and the importance of sharing them with others.
Prani and the accompanying installation, Suara Muara (The Sounds of the Estuary), were commissioned by the Singapore Art Museum as part of its “Imaginarium 2016” program.
Note: For more information about the accompanying installation, please see Suara Muara (The Sounds of the Estuary) under “Installations & Exhibitions.”
